Essentials 23-30 Bundle

Students continue to explore how the sounds of English relate to spelling. In Units 23-30 learn about stressed and unstressed syllables and how stress relates to suffixing. They will also discover how and why some sounds assimilate

Learn the final four multi-letter phonograms and develop the skills to discover advanced phonograms. Students will also learn how to add a suffix to any word in English.

By the end of Unit 30, students will know all 75 Basic Phonograms and all the Logic of English Spelling Rules. This knowledge combined with morphology and practice analyzing words will prepare students to understand. the spelling of any word in English.

Students continue to develop their understanding of grammar by learning about statements, commands, questions, and exclamations as well as learning how to write complex sentences.

Level A students continue to study contractions as well as learn proper usage for words such as their and there. Level B students learn an additional 10 morphemes. Level C students are introduced to 35 morphemes. All levels continue to practice suffixing.

Units 23-30 of the Essentials Reader continues to introduce texts with increasingly difficult language comprehension to build vocabulary and provide practice applying phonics and morphology with support and modeling.
