In Foundations A students will learn all the sounds of a-z. They will also begin to apply the first sounds to reading a decoding words with short vowels. Foundations A students will be able to read and spell CVC words as well as short vowel words with a consonant blend.
In Foundations C students continue to build their phonemic awareness and phonemic sensitivity. Lessons include practice blending and segmenting three- and four- syllable words and substitution of phonemes,
Foundations C lessons include phonics controlled composition such as making charts, writing lists, and creating a travel booklet. These activities are designed to develop skills needed to be successful with a composition program. Foundations C also includes copywork and dictation.
Foundations C Workbooks are available in one format.
Foundations C includes a set of 8 nonfiction controlled readers that model comprehension skills for reading academic texts with success.
Foundations C also includes Miles & Jax, two controlled chapter books. The Miles and Jax books are integrated into eight additional lessons in Teacher's Guide. These lessons are found after the assessment and provide additional reading comprehension and spelling practice.
