With a heavy emphasis on foundational phonemic awareness skills, students will become aware of how sounds are produced, practice blending and segmenting one-syllable words, and develop mastery blending consonants.

Read & Spell Short Vowel Words

In Foundations A students will learn all the sounds of a-z. They will also begin to apply the first sounds to reading a decoding words with short vowels. Foundations A students will be able to read and spell CVC words as well as short vowel words with a consonant blend. Students will learn how to read and spell 36 high-frequency words.
