Foundations D uses a combination of popular Children's Literature and nonfiction readers to build students comprehension skills. In this level of Foundations, ALL books have become decodable!
Every Foundations D lesson includes reading a book. Children's literature books such as Polar Opposites are alternated with nonfiction readers such as the Arctic and the Antarctic to build reading comprehension skills.
By Foundations D, every book is decodable!
Foundations D Spelling Analysis front loads words from the Foundations D Readers and Children's Literature books to build fluency so students can focus on comprehension.
Foundations D lessons build on vocabulary skills learned in Foundations A-C. Lessons are focused on learning morphemes that are used in the Readers and Literature books. For example, while reading about the Arctic and Antarctic, students learn that ant- means opposite. The Antarctic is on the opposite side of the earth from the Arctic.
Foundations D students learn how to identify nouns, verbs and adjectives and how to write a complete sentence. Lessons also include ideas for composition based on the Readers and Children's Literature books. Students create Venn diagrams, mind maps, graphic organizers and write short texts.

"Lucien has been asking me for the last couple months to teach him to read like his big sister, Viviana. Today, he began his first day of school! Logic of English has been such a great fit for both of my children."
"This program is absolutely amazing! It has been a thrill to watch both of (my children) really understand and ENJOY the process of learning to read and write. We chose the cursive curriculum option, and I’m so happy we did. Leah’s cursive is BEAUTIFUL! This curriculum is phenomenal. Just try it and watch your child’s brain grow right in front of your eyes. It’s so exciting!"
"Kindergarten year isn't even done and Foundations A is complete! So proud of this guy!
I was a classroom teacher for 11 years and this is the BEST reading program. ❤️"
