Whether you’re a homeschooling parent or a classroom teacher, here are some engaging indoor activities that make learning phonograms and spelling rules fun for students of all ages!

Hands-On Activities

One of the best ways to learn is by doing! These tactile activities help students connect with phonograms and spelling rules in a meaningful way.

Sand or Salt Tray Writing

Have students say the sounds while they trace phonograms in a tray of sand or salt to reinforce letter formation and sound recognition.

Word Building

Use magnetic letters on a board or our phonogram tiles to spell words following specific spelling rules.

Block Spelling

Write phonograms on wooden blocks and let students build words by stacking the correct letter combinations.

Games and Puzzles

Turning learning into a game keeps students engaged and motivated while reinforcing spelling concepts.

Phonogram Bingo

Create bingo boards with phonograms and call out words containing those phonograms for students to mark.

Spelling Word Jumble

Mix up the letters of a word and have students unscramble them based on phonetic patterns.

Roll and Read Dice Game

Encouraging students to use phonograms in writing activities reinforces their understanding and application of spelling rules.

Phonogram Story Writing

Challenge students to write a short story using specific phonograms.

Spelling Rule Posters

Have students create colorful posters illustrating spelling rules.
